A design with as rich a history as the heroic individuals that inspired it, the Mallory Jacket was originally dubbed the Sherpa, then the Tenzing after the legendary mountain guide Tenzing Norgay, it received its current moniker after the body of George Mallory was finally recovered from the slopes of Everest after his ill fated final adventure. A Cabourn staple, first appearing in the original 'Ascent' collection, it is based the the Military Issue 3-Piece Harris Tweed Suit Mallory equipped himself in for that final excursion. Celebrating the incredible traditional craftsmanship found in the British Isles, the jacket is made in England from authentic Harris Tweed, which is hand woven in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The shoulder and elbow panels are made from L34 Ventile, a highly water-resistant densely woven cotton, originally developed by the Shirley Institute during WWII for the Royal Air Force.
