For his SS12 Authentic collection, Nigel has taken particular inspiration from the clothing worn by the Desert Rats - British troops stationed in North Africa during WWII, under the command of General Montgomery. Many familiar pieces from previous Authentic collections make a welcome return, updated with new detailing, fabrics and colour combinations inspired by the Desert Rats.
The Cameraman Jacket was worn by Wilfird Noyce on his numerous photography expeditions to Everest. This is an updated version of Nigel's brilliant recreation of the original, with a pointed collar replacing the original parka hood, and large horn buttons replacing the clip fastening. For this lighter weight version, unlined beeswax cotton uppers offer protection from rain, and the lower sections are lined and constructed from a waxed camouflage patterned British military cotton drill.
