For their Spring/Summer 2012 collection Heritage Research have drawn inspiration mainly from the 1960's - '70's, and in particular Vietnam war era counter-culture.

The Tokyo Tailored Jacket takes direct inspiration from vintage, Vietnam War-era examples of bespoke tailored clothing, which many US soldiers would have made for them by local tailors while on leave in Tokyo or Saigon. The iconic gold tiger stripe camouflage cotton twill was custom woven in England for Heritage Research, to the correct specifications to create an exact replica of original examples of the fabric
