Adidas Consortium x J. Thompson Matchplay

Having wiped the slate clean with last season's 'Tabula Rasa' capsule collection, Adidas Consortium is back to its former glory just in time for the 2012 London Olympic Games. In anticipation of the games, Adidas invited series of creatives from past Olympic cities to design their own sneaker, using an iconic Adidas silhouette as their blank canvas, and their Olympic memories as inspiration. Representing Sydney, Jim Thompson of menswear label Three Over One has reworked the Matchplay, infusing it with his brand's ethos of 'Honest, Hardworking Apparel'. Inspired by 1930s track and field shoes from the Adidas archives, Thompson has given the matchplay a worn-in aesthetic, using a subtle waxed leather on the upper, with a pigskin suede toe box and a crackled contrast heel tab.
