As Winter rages on in Newcastle everyone at End towers is thinking of warmer climes, or at the very least, jackets that will keep us warm enough to pretend that we are somewhere with better weather than the North East of England. One thing that both keeps you warm and hints at warmer months to come is the forthcoming Spring/Summer 2013 collection from Junya Watanabe’s MAN imprint.
Watanabe – who started his career as a protégé to Comme de Garcons’ Rei Kawakubo – has seen both his unique style and the success of his branch of the CdG mega-brand flourish season after season. 2013’s collection has many of the hallmark features and the high quality finishings which we have come to associate with Mr. Watanabe’s work, including the somewhat irregular ‘patchwork’ design features which seek to subvert otherwise traditional silhouettes.
In this collection, traditional pieces of outerwear sit alongside Jackets featuring inimitable and one-off details, which could have only come from Junya Watanabe. There are also unique approaches to classic Blazers, floral prints, and, as with any MAN collection, collaborations with the likes of Levi’s, Champion and Pointer.
Catch a glimpse of the collection below, courtesy of our Buying Team’s pictures from their trip to Paris last year. Hopefully they will instil you with the same excitement for the upcoming Junya release, and the warmer months that should lie ahead. For more details of the upcoming collection, please email
