Fred Perry Laurel Wreath Blank Canvas Cycling Collection – Summer 2012

As we previewed last month, Fred Perry have built on S/S’11 cycling pack by offering an expanded collection for Summer 2012, with an expanded range that includes cycling shirts, jackets and footwear.

The collection, released under the Laurel Wreath label, is part of Fred Perry’s on-going Blank Canvas project which utilises premium materials and combines them with authentic styling and detailing, with a large part of the range being produced in England. The shirts are constructed from the same premium pique cotton as the famous M12, harnessing traditional elements from cycling jerseys of the 1950-70′s, with zip fastening collars and button closure back pockets. The use of colour, and the whole aesthetic of the collection for that matter, is unashamedly bold with contrast panelling, multi-band detailing and strong patterns, inspired by the iconic jerseys worn in competitive cycle racing. As you’d expect, the jacket and shoes are typically Fred Perry with a nod to the subcultures that it has so proudly kitted through the years. The whole collection has a slim, sleek silhouette which is indicative of the functionality needed within cycling apparel, but also keeps to the true spirit of Fred Perry’s flagship label.
