The latest drop from Paul Smith Jeans mixes classic essential pieces with traditional, formal cuts and an eclectic range of detailing to create a collection that’s as simple as it is diverse.

The Nottingham-based label uses a washed-out palette that is heavily influenced by the American surf scene of the mid-70′s, combining this with the work of two cultural icons, the late Confessional artist Louise Borgeois and New Wave film director Jean-Luc Goddard. The tonal, neutral colours of Borgeois and the vivid primary hues of Goddard work in tandem to add life to simple, utilitarian outerwear. The collection also melds together denims, traditional chambrays and Jacquard patchworks with acid hues and strong striped patterns.

For a more detailed look at the collection, please visit the Paul Smith Jeans section…

After a brief hiatus Adidas Consortium is back with a vengeance, first with the ‘Tabula Rasa’ pack, and now with something a little bit special. Adidas was founded in Germany by the great Adi Dassler, and their International HQ has remained in his birth place of Herzogenaurach ever since. Adi Dassler handmade the first Adidas shoes in Herzogenaurach, before the brand grew into a sportswear giant, the decades past, and production in Germany was no longer possible.

After the exceptional reaction to our exclusive, behind the scenes look at this season's Nigel Cabourn Authentic collection, we now have the full range online an available to buy. If that wasn't enough, we've even compiled our own mini 'look book', shot in 1940s sepia-tone, in recognition of the WWII influence that runs throughout the collection.

As mentioned in our previous post, the Cabourn SS12 collection takes inspiration from General Montgomery's Desert Rats, updating classic NC pieces using military cotton drill and waxed cotton in desert tones and authentic camouflage patterns. The result - in our opinion - is one of the most individual and striking collections we have seen in some time, showcasing classic outerwear designs such as the Surface and Aircraft jackets, as well as some of Nigel's more tailored pieces including the Chittagong Jacket and Peak Vest. Alongside these pieces are Ascent of Cabourn staples such as the Cameraman, Tenzing and Mallory jackets, expertly reworked, innovatively capturing the spirit of the British 8th Army in a way only Nigel can.

As you might expect the collection has strong military influences, featuring various officers’ jackets, vests, and combat smocks.
Today, Gitman Vintage base their designs on a number of line-books from the late 70s which feature the original drawings and notes on classic Gitman pieces. Each season, they focus on shirts and fabrics from a particular year and update them with slimmer, modern cuts for their growing legion of contemporary followers. Aside from the patterns and fabric, Gitman Vintage also include key details from the original collection, such as double track stitching, chalk buttons, locker loops and the original branded inside label featured on every piece.

In a day and age where many people claim to be ‘re-imagining archive designs’, very few do it as well as Gitman Vintage, with their carefully considered approach to the production of their product. Testament to this is the fact that every piece is expertly crafted in the USA, going through 50 steps using 25 individual pieces to produce a shirt which takes around 80 minutes from start to finish. A far cry from the world of mass produced clothing.

Spring Summer 2012 sees Gitman delve into the archives to use a variety of cottons from across their collections, notably premium Japanese cotton as used in the Boat Print Shirt , Polka Dot Shirt and the Stripe Shirt. All have striking patterns which suit the slim silhouette of the shirt and work well as both a layer piece and a stand-alone shirt. If these subtle patterns aren’t enough, Gitman have produced two camouflage based pieces for the more ‘outlandish’ shirt wearer. Utilising a heavy cotton twill, the Zebra Camo Shirt is robust enough to be worn as an overshirt, while the Camouflage Shirt adds a new dimension to the classic slimmer block retaining the familiar tailored look.

As always, more traditional shirting is the backbone of the collection with the classic Oxford Shirt available in Blue, Red, White and Grey as well as the ever-popular Chambray Shirt in Blue, Green and a crinkle Linen. The collection is rounded off with the obligatory check, this time in the form of an authentic Madras Check in a Red, White and Blue colourway and the classic Seersucker Stripe Shirt in Blue and White

Levi’s Vintage Clothing is part of the Levi’s premium ‘XX’ division, focussing on re-creating vintage pieces of American workwear and sportswear, with an unwavering dedication to detail and quality. Each LVC collection documents and celebrates the history of Levi’s clothing, using authentic fits, detailing and fabrics to capture a classic and often nostalgic aesthetic.

The core of every Levi’s Vintage clothing collection is of course the denim. Each pair of LVC jeans is a painstaking re-creation of a particular Levi’s fit from a specific time period, finished with meticulous distressing and washing, which accurately mimics the natural effects of wear. This season we’ve stocked two of the most popular variations of the iconic Levi’s 501 – the 1954 and the ’47 jean – each in two varying states of distress. Also on offer are the slim 505 fit, the skinny 605, as well as chinos and cords, meaning there’s truly something for everyone this season.

Recent seasons have seen LVC expand and develop their collection far beyond jeans as they seek to provide a comprehensive offering of clothing based on iconic pieces from their vast archive of restored and reclaimed garments. The Spring/Summer ’12 collection includes some amazing athletic sports tees, sweatshirts and hoodies, as well as some 1960’s-inspired striped tees that hark back to the heyday of Californian surf culture. The workwear side of the collection is composed of several styles of work shirts in a number of authentic fabrics, these sit alongside pieces such as the 1920’s Sunset Coat, a typically LVC take on the classic chore jacket.

Beams launched in Japan in the mid 70’s as a revolutionary multi faceted clothing manufacturer and retail operation. Beams’ retail operation has now grown to over 100 stores, with several varying concepts, serving the ever changing styles of new generations of Japanese consumers. The Beams Plus concept launched around five years ago, and caters for the more discerning gentleman.

The Beams Plus clothing line focuses on faithfully recreating American classics, using only the finest Japanese fabrics and craftsmanship. The results are a collection outstanding in its depth of range, detailing and quality. Beams Plus has always been one of our favourite collections, highly converted by any clothing enthusiast due to its ground breaking quality and incredibly limited distribution (Limited to Japanese retailers only!) So we were extremely honoured when last year we were invited to Beams HQ in Tokyo to view the forthcoming spring range. So after a fantastic trip, a few thousand air miles, and several months wait, we are extremely pleased to present the Spring 2012 Beams Plus collection…

The Beams Plus range is curated by Kenich Kusanoi (Kenny to his friends!), who’s almost worrying passion for American vintage and outdoor pursuits drives the collection’s concept. Given Kenny’s passion, it is not surprising that the range contains many classic Americans silhouettes such as the Mountain Parka, Oxford Shirt, Plaid shirt and Railroad Vest, all reworked and updated by the Japanese masters.

The Spring 2012 collection focuses on the 1960’s and 70’s, adding in new styles such as the PO Shirt, Double Breasted Blazer and Naval Overcoat to the existing range of American classics. As always, each style is more than a basic re-creation, as Beams update the styles with fabrics old and new, such as Cool Max and Linen Herringbone, all brought together by craftsmen in Japan.
Our favourite styles include the camouflage pants, Summer Mountain Parka, Herringbone PO Shirt, and Naval Overcoat, but with a range this good it is difficult to choose favourites. Head to the Beams Plus section to view the full range, and make your own decisions – if you can!

One of the true stalwarts of the End Clothing brand list, Oliver Spencer has been part of the roster here for nearly ten seasons, producing some of the finest shirting, knits and outerwear in his own unmistakable fashion. Every Oliver Spencer piece has a distinctly English feel to it, drawing influence from Oli’s background in tailoring, using premium fabrics and traditional construction techniques.

The SS12 collection, as always, sees old favourites updated and new pieces added. The Travel Jacket – a staple for all seasons – returns in midweight cotton twill, along with the Worker Trouser in some great new colours. New additions include the Moss Henley, a waffle knit crew neck, and the Polzeath Jacket, a version of the fisherman’s parka that is inspired heavily by British outerwear.

The result is a collection that is quintessentially Oliver Spencer, timeless and wearable, all year round. Head Over to the Oliver Spencer section now for a closer look.
