In the annals of sneaker history, the Adidas Campus 80 should surely go down as one of the most underrated styles of all time. Originally named the ‘Tournament’, the Campus 80 was regarded as a basketball trainer but has always had its place in an array of subcultures. Revered for its simple styling and effortless use of premium materials, the Campus 80 garnered a reputation as a staple trainer for skaters and B-Boys alike, a reputation that was only enhanced when Mike D casually sported a pair on the Beastie Boys album cover for ‘Check Your Head’.

This rich-yet-understated history of the Campus 80 has lead to the fantastic collaboration between Adidas and Japanese sneaker-dons MITA. Heralded as one of Tokyo’s most celebrated stores, MITA consistently produce high-end collaborations that not only thrust classic styles into the 21st century, but sympathetically adhere to their history, the Campus 80 being no exception. Available in two colourways – Black & University Red and Cardinal & Running White – this collaborative reworking utilises premium pigskin suede uppers that accentuate the simple profile of the shoe. The detailing is authentically simple, with a tonal lace set and white leather stripe and heel tab adding a fresh appeal.

The real talking point is the trainer’s sole unit, treated to give the trainer a vintage look, highlighting its place as an archive classic. The vintage effect dying process also adds a new dynamic to the shoe which will only get stronger as the uppers begin to age and develop a character of their own. Finishing off the trainer is a cork insole which has a printed wire fence pattern overlay, referencing the popularity of the Campus 80 within urban subcultures.

The Adidas x MITA Campus 80 is available from May 25th, 2012. To register your interest, email us and stipulate the colourway you would like…

Continuing on from this season’s ‘A Constellation Within’ collection and the much revered capsule collection ‘Splash’, Our Legacy have handed us a rather healthy delivery of their ‘Everyman’ collection. The range is based around essential, staple garments that make up the backbone of any man’s wardrobe, as well as handily complementing some of the more daring pieces.

As usual, designers Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin have made shirting the base of the collection, producing classic, timeless pieces in a range of washes and materials that stick religiously to the simple, sharp aesthetic you come to expect from the Stockholm-based label. The silhouettes have been limited to three of Our Legacy’s best; the 1940s, thwe 1950s and the ever-popular Generation Shirt. Sitting alongside the shirting is the Great Sweat. One of the most versatile pieces of a man’s wardrobe, the sweater is available in a casual Washed Purple as well as the luxurious Navy Silk, constructed from a premium cotton/silk mix fabric which has a worn-in, easy-to-wear look. Rounding off the ‘Everyman’ range is the Classic Chino, made from a durable Portuguese Cotton Twill with a heavy vintage wash which adds a touch of functionality to the collection.

Building upon the foundations of Spring/Summer’s first drop, the second instalment of this season’s WTAPS collection brings together a selection of accessible, essential clothing which harnesses the designer’s core values. Founded in 1996, the Harajuku-based label has garnered a cult following for its uncompromising pursuit of functional excellence, basing their whole design ethos on ‘Placing things where they should be’. This considered approach towards garment design and production results in pieces which, as well as sitting perfectly alongside one another, also work in tandem with the wearer.

The second drop from Nishiyama fits perfectly with the collection’s name, ‘Better Than Yesterday’, which takes classic pieces from recent history and develops them with modern day materials and production techniques, essentially redesigning the product completely to enable it to fit seamlessly into modern day living. The backbone of the delivery is a range of simple, premium cotton tees, the standout of which being the baseball-inspired ‘Ian’ Tee, with its authentic screen printed branding and three-quarter length sleeves – available in Navy or Red. This range of tees works fantastically well with both shirts; such as the cotton twill Union Shirt which comes in a Red or Green Plaid Twill; and the military-influenced Buds Shirt, which boldly uses authentic military touches such as ID Tags to add a touch of character to the overshirt.

Similarly, the sweats in the collection work tremendously well alongside the rest of the range, with the vivid colour of the Hellweek Hoody and the military gym-influenced Offset Hoody both utilising premium cotton with unwavering attention to styling and detail. This uncompromising attention to detail is exhibited perfectly in the range of accessories with bookend the collection, the standout piece being the luxurious Tanker Tote Bag, constructed from Military spec cotton canvas and a premium pebble grain leather the bag takes great influeces from vintage Hermès design. Offering an incredible level of durability and utility, as well as a truly timeless look, this is a bag that will serve you faithfully for many years, if not a lifetime, whether used for short trips or your everyday carry.

Following on from our post earlier in the week, here is a closer look at the first drop of Adidas Consortium Spring/Summer 2012.

Drop 1 from the collection continues on from A/W’11 ‘Tabula Rasa’ range, with five prominent creatives – all of which are from Olympic host cities – developing the ‘blank slate’ of five classic trainers into a games-inspired pack. Utilising the same premium approach as the Tabula Rasa collection with careful consideration given to the choice of materials and finishes, each style combining an intrinsic eye for detail with the designer’s own memories from Olympic games gone by.

Subdued and understated, Sydney based designer Jim Thompson elevates the classic Matchplay silhouette, using subtle wax leather and pigskin uppers inspired by track shoes from the late 1930′s as well as drawing influence from the industrial workmanship of the era to give the trainer a hand-crafted feel. This is in stark contrast to London-based illustrator Kate Moross’s reworking of the Baltic Cup, which effortlessly incorporates premium suede uppers with her trademark triangle patterning which are ingeniously reflective.

Adidas haven’t just stuck to conventional artists, as is evident in the styles developed by Tokyo Hip Hop artist, Muro, and LA-Songwriter, Aloe Blacc. Reworking the classic Pro-Shell model – Muro dubbed his own creation as simply ‘aggressive’ – the devil is definitely in the detail with this understated mid-trainer which features jersey sock lining as well as luxurious snakeskin three stripe to the side panel. Alternatively, Aloe Blacc’s version of the Decade Hi is awash with Olympic history. Influenced by the efforts of Ethiopian Abebe Bikila, who won Marathon gold in Rome 1960 games, there is a translucent gum sole, heavy stitching to the midsole and oxblood leather uppers giving this trainer a very premium feel.

The first drop is finished off with a fantastic reinterpretation of one of Adidas most popular runners, the ZX500. Developed in partnership with the Berlin born sneaker obsessive, Quote, this classic profile is kept very much to its original spec with nylon and mesh uppers. The neutral colourway of this trainer is directly influenced by the Blue and White track of the Berlin Olympic Stadium of the 1972 games.

The Adidas Consortium ‘Your Story’ Drop 1 is available from May 19th, 2012. To register your interest, please email us and for a closer look, check out the video below…

In addition to their extremely well-received SS12 ‘Less Than Zero’ collection, End favourites Neighborhood have produced a highly limited mid-season capsule collection in celebration of Original Fake’s sixth anniversary. Founded in 2006 by legendary street artist KAWS, Original Fake initially produced graffiti-inspired reworkings of Medicom’s iconic Be@rbrick toys, and quickly grew into a full line of streetwear and accessories.

This highly anticipated release comes courtesy of Neighborhood productions, and is crafted with pride in Japan. Taking staple NBHD items, including their short-sleeved tees and straight-leg raw selvage denim jeans, KAWS has added to the already unsurpassed level of detailing. The artist’s ‘Chompers’ motif runs throughout the collection via custom prints, embroidery and label decals, resulting in a flawless combination of Original Fake’s street-art aesthetic and NBHD’s subculture-influenced apparel.

The Neighborhood x Original Fake 6th Anniversary ‘NHOF’ capsule collection is available online and in store at End now, along with an extensive new drop from NBHD’s SS12 collection.

The next highly limited release from Adidas Consortium focusses on the Olympics, with the latest crop of collaborators drawing inspiration from their own Olympic memories. The designers chosen hail from Olympic cities around the world, from Tokyo to Amsterdam, with each of them telling their story using a silhouette selected from the Consortium archives.

The collection ranges from a London photographer’s poolside-inspired ZX 500, to a Sydney fashion designer’s vintage track and field take on the Matchplay, with each shoe representing the diversity of the cultures involved with the Olympic games. As ever, the detailing is exceptionally considered, every sneaker’s Consortium loop tag features an Olympic coloured eyelet on the inside of the tongue, which further ties the collection together.

In addition to the 9 Consortium-partner designs, the collection culminates with a tenth shoe, created by Adidas Originals themselves, marking their 20th year of involvement in the Olympics with reworking of the BC – Baltic Cup – silhouette. Delivered in a colour-way inspired by the original Adidas Olympia trainer, Adi incorporate a selection of varying sockliners that recognise classic silhouettes from the brand’s rich connection to Olympic history.

The Your Story pack is split into two drops with the first five shoes set to launch in store and online on Saturday 19th May.
Released under Fred Perry’s premium ‘Laurel Wreath’ line, most of the collection’s production was handled in England and Portugal, using the finest materials. Utilitarian details are apparent throughout the range, with ergonomically placed pockets designed for water bottles and other ride essentials, and perforated detailing on the cycling shoes to keep your feet cool on a long climb.

Stockholm-based label Our Legacy are something of a favourite here at End, with their use of relaxed cuts, premium fabrics and tremendous eye for colour and prints. The Swedish duo, Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin, have been working in tandem with art director Tony Cederteg to create their highly anticipated SS12 capsule collection, entitled ‘Splash’. The collection melds bold, nature-inspired printed and patterned fabrics with some of the brand’s most popular silhouettes and sit perfectly alongside the Our Legacy mainline collection.

The first drop from the Splash collection to arrive here at End comprises two unique pieces. The first is an Our Legacy staple: the 1950s button down shirt. This regular-fitting shirt is Our Legacy at its best, with a simple silhouette given a shock of energy with a ’90s influenced burgundy flowers print. The second garment is a more understated piece, the classic pique polo shirt. Ulilising a blend of cotton and linen, this slub-woven fabric allows the polo to be worn endlessly, with the shirt developing a pleasing patina over time. As ever, the details are kept simple, with classic three button placket and an open chest pocket finishing off this everyday item in timeless style.

Founded in 1993 in New York by Japanese designer Takeshi Ohfuchi, Post Overalls designs still adhere to their original ethos of producing authentic, beautifully produced clothing. Their SS12 collection is inspired by the 'Machine Age' of American Industrial Design, and as ever Ohfuchi's designs are charismatic reproductions of workwear, military and outdoor clothing of the era, painstakingly replicating the construction, materials and silhouettes of these historic garments.

Founded in 1993 in New York by Japanese designer Takeshi Ohfuchi, Post Overalls designs still adhere to their original ethos of producing authentic, beautifully produced clothing.

Their SS12 collection is inspired by the ‘Machine Age’ of American Industrial Design, and as ever Ohfuchi’s designs are charismatic reproductions of workwear, military and outdoor clothing of the era, painstakingly replicating the construction, materials and silhouettes of these historic garments.

The collection, like previous seasons, remains packed full of technical detail utilising materials more suitable to the summer months such as a lightweight Pima Cotton Poplin and premium Southern Chambray. As you’d expect, outerwear make up the bulk of this collection with the ever-popular Engineers Jacket and Royal Traveller Vest seeing an updated and worthy return. The Cruzer Jacket has been reworked to become the Cruzer 5W, available in a range of hues, authentically demonstrating the practicality of these workwear-inspired pieces, with five front pockets and a double vented back.
