Founded in 1993 by Ralph Lauren, the Double RL brand was created as a modern tribute to the independent spirit of the untamed West, and the tireless resolve of the American worker. Both the brand name and logo are tributes to Mr. Lauren’s working RRL cattle Ranch in Colorado, which exemplifies the soul and lifestyle of the brand.

The foundation of Double RL lies in timeless wardrobe staples; authentic American made hand-finished selvedge denim, military-grade chinos, tube-knit t-shirts, thermals and flannels. On top of these iconic styles are added seasonal vintage-inspired collections, along with a full collection of accessories, including handmade belts, bags, and leather goods.

We have had our first shipment of the spring season from Mr. Lauren and the guys at Double RL, and it’s looking better than ever. We have a few styles from the great jersey programme, including two Double RL Logos Tees (£89), and a ‘Fuel Station’ Crew Neck (£175). Shirting comes in the form of Solid and Stripe Oxfords (£165), an amazing Pink Vintage Chambray (£185), and the distinctly Double RL Farrell Work Shirt (£185).

The two key styles from this drop are undoubtedly the Shawl Collar Hunting Cardigan (£375), and the Grand Canyon Trekking Jacket (£660). Both styles embody the Double RL ethos, and are 100% reproductions of archive Ralph Lauren products. The level of production and detailing on these styles is truly amazing, with only the finest custom sourced vintage fabrics, buttons and leathers used to create an authentic archive look. On the denim front we have the Double RL ‘Low Straight’, in rigid denim (£270). This is the quintessential regular fit Double RL five-pocket jean, is heavyweight rigid selvedge denim.

RRL was first introduced in 1993 as a collection of meticulously aged and rugged looking menswear inspired by the pioneering spirit of the American West. Vintage selvedge denims, flannel shirts, beautifully battered leathers and utilitarian styles which evoke images of hard-grafting ranch hands and tough-talking blue-collar workers are all thrown into the mix in a collection that is named after Double RL, the Colorado ranch owned by Ricky and Ralph Lauren.

The collection has evolved into a huge, vintage inspired celebration of Americana, using  only the best quality fabrics and factories.

Previously only available in the US, Ralph and his team have now decided to launch the brand in Europe with a handful of select stores. We were of course very pleased when we got the call from the RRL team requesting that we view the collection. 6 months later and our first delivery of RRL has landed at our Hunting Co. store.
