Opening Ceremony

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Sitting in the heart of downtown Manhattan is Opening Ceremony – Not just a store, and not just a design house. Opening Ceremony is more a hub for like-minded global artists and designers, where they can display and sell their work, be it their art or fashion. Despite the colossal eclecticism that can be found at Opening Ceremony there is definitely a common thread that runs through everything within its walls; only the most innovative and maverick find themselves on show.

It is no surprise then that the clothing line that Opening Ceremony have created is something that is quite brilliant and markedly different to the majority of contemporary collections. A fitting representation of their ethos of innovation and variation, with impetus often placed on collaborations, joint projects with designers, artists and brands that many other people would choose to overlook.

Opening Ceremony’s stand-alone collection similarly balances progression with a real awareness of history and heritage. Classic shirting mixes with shawl collar cardigans and anoraks, the finish is as good as anything we have ever seen, with each piece given a brilliantly distinct and individual twist of it’s own.

Since first opening their doors in 2002 Opening Ceremony have caused quite a stir and we hope this collection, and their forthcoming collaboration with Pendleton will do the same here at End.

Some of our favorite styles from the new collection are pictured below, and please head to the Opening Ceremony section to view the full range.

Pendleton Woolen Mills

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

The Pendleton woolen mills are 100 years old this year, and have one of the richest and most interesting histories of any American brand. Starting out in 1909 with jacquard Indian trading blankets, the company have gone from strength to strength, producing some of the most iconic blankets, knits and shirts of their kind.

The Heritage collection sees famous archive patterns such as the ‘Spirit of the Peoples’ and ‘Harding’ recreated in knitted sweaters and scarves as well as the blankets that originally made them so famous. The woolen shirts which have made Pendleton one of the most recognised names in modern American culture come in a variety of fantastic patterns.
Blackwatch tartan, officially commissioned by the regiment, adorns shirts, blankets and holdalls which are all made from premium American virgin wool. The quality and detailing on all Pendleton products is second to none, and from the striking heritage patterns to the expert level of finishing, it is instantly apparent why the brand are such an integral name in American culture.

As you can tell we are ecstatic at being chosen to be one of the select few UK stockists of this incredible brand, and we hope from this small initial collection you can see why. Pendleton have been a firm favourite of ours for a while now, and we hope that soon more people will now be able to appreciate this iconic American label.
