Our Legacy ‘Everyman’ Collection

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Continuing on from this season’s ‘A Constellation Within’ collection and the much revered capsule collection ‘Splash’, Our Legacy have handed us a rather healthy delivery of their ‘Everyman’ collection. The range is based around essential, staple garments that make up the backbone of any man’s wardrobe, as well as handily complementing some of the more daring pieces.

As usual, designers Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin have made shirting the base of the collection, producing classic, timeless pieces in a range of washes and materials that stick religiously to the simple, sharp aesthetic you come to expect from the Stockholm-based label. The silhouettes have been limited to three of Our Legacy’s best; the 1940s, thwe 1950s and the ever-popular Generation Shirt. Sitting alongside the shirting is the Great Sweat. One of the most versatile pieces of a man’s wardrobe, the sweater is available in a casual Washed Purple as well as the luxurious Navy Silk, constructed from a premium cotton/silk mix fabric which has a worn-in, easy-to-wear look. Rounding off the ‘Everyman’ range is the Classic Chino, made from a durable Portuguese Cotton Twill with a heavy vintage wash which adds a touch of functionality to the collection.

Our Legacy – ‘Splash’ Collection

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Stockholm-based label Our Legacy are something of a favourite here at End, with their use of relaxed cuts, premium fabrics and tremendous eye for colour and prints. The Swedish duo, Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin, have been working in tandem with art director Tony Cederteg to create their highly anticipated SS12 capsule collection, entitled ‘Splash’. The collection melds bold, nature-inspired printed and patterned fabrics with some of the brand’s most popular silhouettes and sit perfectly alongside the Our Legacy mainline collection.

The first drop from the Splash collection to arrive here at End comprises two unique pieces. The first is an Our Legacy staple: the 1950s button down shirt. This regular-fitting shirt is Our Legacy at its best, with a simple silhouette given a shock of energy with a ’90s influenced burgundy flowers print. The second garment is a more understated piece, the classic pique polo shirt. Ulilising a blend of cotton and linen, this slub-woven fabric allows the polo to be worn endlessly, with the shirt developing a pleasing patina over time. As ever, the details are kept simple, with classic three button placket and an open chest pocket finishing off this everyday item in timeless style.

Our Legacy SS12 Collection

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

The first drop from Swedish designers Our Legacy Spring Summer 2012 collection has landed at End and as per usual, it doesn’t disappoint, with the brand sticking to their ethos of creating basic yet brilliant clothing.

The label, set up by Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin in 2005, has grown steadily and constantly to become one of the most anticipated labels this season. Referencing everything from 1980′s Armani and 90′s Helmut Lang to Hardcore Punk, Wu Tang Clan and Art Installations; the brand’s aim is to create pieces to appease the demand of the basic wardrobe, a feat they achieve with ease.

Following on from the Autumn Winter 2011 ‘Impression’ collection, Our Legacy’s main focus, as always, is centred around fabrics and cuts. This is highlighted in expertly crafted shirting with traditional cuts, like the Placket Button Down Shirt, and some great colour choices, seen in the Generation and 1940′s Button Down styles, and the unconventional such as the Jumbo Shirt, with its ill-proportioned cut exemplified by an over-sized silhouette.

Basic essential pieces provide the backbone of this first drop, with updated styles of the Great Sweat available in a Red or Grey melange which characterised by its boxy 50′s style, or in a premium cotton Navy Melange or a simple Cold Grey which uses silk within its construction and has a washed out, classic fit.

For those of you with a penchant for outerwear, the Swede’s deliver with a lightweight jacket with the cyclist very much in mind. Constructed in Portugal, the Windbreaker, available in an Italian cotton Creamy Paper or nylon Midnight Shadowfly, features a drawstring hood, taped bottom hem and is finished off with a zip closure pouch pocket to the rear of the jacket which is subtle enough to appear unnoticeable if needed. For a more relaxed style, Our Legacy have developed the Great Sweat into two styles of zip ‘bomber jacket’. Coming in a Lined Grey Melange or a slimmer, unlined Navy, the Zip Bomber utilises the premium cotton of the sweater and is finished with full length zip fastening and the classic, sporty bomber collar.
