Over recent years we have seen a huge revival in British made clothing and footwear, with new brands appearing and some great old names returning to prominence, recognising the craftmanship and rich heritage of UK manufacturing. New Balance, however, have been well aware of this for some time, and despite being based over 3000 miles away in Boston MA, they identified a small factory in Cumbria as the ideal place to produce the majority of their iconic archive pieces.
The Flimby factory has been producing footwear for well over 100 years, and every pair that leaves their production lines is hand checked and expertly made by a team that can boast generations of experience. We sent our roving buyers off to the Irish Sea coast to follow our August delivery pass through the meticulous production process, offering an exclusive and highly enlightening insight into New Balance’s Flimby factory.
