Nanamica SS12 – Drop 1

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Technical apparel specialists Nanamica have delivered the first styles from their Spring Summer 2012 collection, entitled ‘One Ocean, All Lands’.

Founded in 2003 by Eiichiro Homma, the Japanese label was born with the ethos of combining traditional outdoor silhouettes and construction methods with contemporary treatments and fabrics, to create pieces of clothing with simplistic beauty and high technical performance. Mr. Homma’s background and experience is visibly apparent throughout each Nanamica collection, having established and developed both Filson Red Label and The North Face’s highly acclaimed ‘Purple Label’ range in recent years.

The first delivery from the Spring Summer 2012 collection sees the return of the Wind Shirt, Day Packs, Cycle Packs and the addition of new essential cotton tees.

Nanamica’s ethos of fusing the traditional with the contemporary is never more apparent than in their shirting. The Wind Shirt utilises the silhouette and construction of the classic oxford shirt, yet offers a contemporary twist with the contrast panel torso, flap cover chest pocket and internal mesh lining. This is also apparent with the Zip Pocket Wing Shirt with its indigo dye linen, hemp and contrast chambray panelling with a vertical closure zip pocket adding a contemporary, outerwear feel to the piece.

The luggage range, as with the shirting, seamlessly combines the traditional with the contemporary. The Day Pack is a classic dual compartment rucksack available in Off-White, Navy and Camouflage, constructed from CORDURA 1000, a lightweight polyester twill that is high durable and gives the bag resistance against the elements. The Cycling Pack also utilises this technical fabric, and when combined with the roll top closure, padded back and adjustable raw hide straps the end result is a durable, ergonomic backpack, perfect for even the toughest daily commute.
