Maison Kitsuné Autumn/Winter 2012 – Drop 1

Thursday, July 19th, 2012

Founded in 2002, Kitsuné have developed beyond their Parisian roots encompassing influences from around the world to create freshly balanced collections that emulate the travels of founding partners Gildas Loaec and Masaya Kuroki. With the help of London based design studio Åbäke, they have melded their passion for fashion and music, intertwining them into one of the most dynamic labels around.

The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection takes influence from the British Tweed Run – an old cycling club that runs through the centre of London celebrating all things tweed – taking its sporting aesthetic and introducing a typically Parisian twist. As ever, designer Masaya Kuroki marries sophisticated tailored cuts with a laid-back leisurely look that nods toward driving culture as well the collection’s cycling influence.

The first drop consists of simple polos, luxurious knits and classic shirting bookended by a small collection of accessories. The shirting is a typically authentic affair with a clean cut Oxford Shirt in a traditional blue hue sat aside the Worker Shirt constructed from a brushed cotton and available in a Navy or Red check. The range of pique polo shirts showcases Kuroki’s passion for tailoring, with each design having a slim and sharp silhouette.

Typical of an Autumn/Winter collection, the range of knits and outerwear cater for every eventuality of the temperamental British weather. The Classic series – V-Neck Sweater and Cardigan – are ideal for the cooler months of Summer with their fine 8-gauge knit lambswool working effortlessly with the shirting from the range. Alternatively for the cold snap, the Cable Knit Crew available in Light Grey and Beige works as a great layering piece. The Unlined Parka is the highlight of this first drop. With its robust cotton twill construction in traditional Khaki, the jacket represents the wholistic ideal of the collection – work and leisure.

The collection is rounded off with a superb selection of accessories such as the cotton mix Scarf, calfskin Solid Belt in Plum and Havana as well as Kitsuné’s continuing collaboration with esteemed master perfumer James Heeley bringing a range of candles in Blueberry and Blackberry aromas, adding a touch of fruit-filled class to any room.

Maison Kitsuné – Spring Summer 2012 Collection

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Founded in 2002, Kitsuné have developed beyond their Parisian roots to become a definite player in the fashion world. The tale reads that founding partners, Gildas Loaec and Masaya Kuroki, met on the set of a Daft Punk video and embarked on a trip to Japan where they decided to create a company combined their two greatest passions – fashion and music. With the help of London based design studio Åbäke, they set up their company and named it after the Japanese for fox, ‘kitsuné’.

The Spring Summer 2012 collection adds a Parisian twist to the theme ‘The Great Gatsby’, mixing timeless silhouettes with soft pastel shades and subtle detailing. Although the label still holds onto its Parisian roots, the construction and manufacture of the collection is truly global, using materials such as Japanese Oxford cotton in pieces that are made in Italy. The first drop from the new collection includes the Classic Shirt updated in seasonal pastel hues of pink and blue and the Classic Stripe Oxford Shirt in timeless blue and white stripe. The Classic Boat Shirt features all-over embroidered boats and anchors, adding a nautical twist to the classic Kitsuné style. The Irregular Polo shirts are finished in washed out pastel shades of rose or grey, perfectly complementing the shirting.

The Oxford Jacket is a lighter weight reworking of the classic formal blazer that features gold button detail, perfect for the forthcoming spring weather. Kitsuné continue their collaboration with U.S moccasin craftsman Quoddy for the Spring season, with a slip on moccasin available in Moss & White or Grey & Peach. These highly limited shoes are handmade in Maine, USA and feature all the hallmarks a great Quoddy shoe, updated in unmistakably Kitsuné fashion.

Kitsuné Autumn Winter 2010

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Parisian label Kitsuné is now five years old, and in our opinion has just delivered their best collection yet. The brand has strong links with the musical scene through its record label, which helps their clothing line stay ahead in the style stakes. In addition to style, special care is given to the quality of the fabric and the tailoring of the garments. The brand strategically sources factories that still embrace artisan methods for a durable and timeless product. Combining the philosophy of tradition with a modern attitude and shapes for clothing that lasts.

The latest collection stays true to the brands Parisian roots, with a traditional red, blue and white colour palette. The shapes are classic, with the Kitsuné polo and oxford shirt making a welcome return. Tees have been a notable edition to the range, with a vibrant selection perfect for the warmer weather.

Part one of the Autumn / Winter collection is available online now. Keep an eye out of the second drop, which includes a very special Quoddy collaboration.

Kitsuné Maison 9 AW10 – Ivy League – Preview Video

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

In terms of clothing at least, Autumn/Winter is fast approaching – now we’re not suggesting that in a month or so we will all all be rushing out to buy scarves and jackets – but it does mean we can really start looking forward to getting our hands on some new clobber from our favourite designers.
One of our personal favourites, and relative End newcomers, Kitsuné, have released a video, previewing their Ivy League inspired AW10 collection. This short film features a dressing ‘battle’ between Nils and Alazne to see who can get changed into their new Kitsuné clothes the fastest, most importantly giving us a sly peek at what to expect from Kitsuné Maison Collection #9.

Judging from what we can see, it looks like the AW10 range is living up to it’s own lofty expectations, mixing Parisian understatement with a personal favourite of ours – Ivy League – styling. Watch this space….
