Fred Perry Blank Canvas x 6876

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Fred Perry Blank Canvas’ Autumn / Winter 2011 collection sees the iconic British label collaborating with pioneering outerwear specialists 6876, creating a bespoke ten piece collection that draws influence from anti-establishment movements. For those who didn’t already know, Kenneth Mackenzie’s 6876 take their name from the year of the ’68 Parisian student protests and the birth of punk – 1976, movements that Fred Perry’s iconic clothing was central to.

This latest collection sees both brands moving new directions in terms of updating detailing and design of archive pieces. This has resulted in Fred Perry combining their iconic Laurel Wreath with another brands logo as one for the very first time, proudly displayed on pieces that incorporate Fred Perry’s intricate tailoring with premium fabrics ranging from signature pique polos to textured knitwear.

The full collection is now available both online and in store, however numbers are extremely limited and we don’t expect it to hang about for long.

Fred Perry Blank Canvas Peter Blake Collection

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

A pioneer of the 60s Pop Art movement, Sir Peter Blake is best known for his bold collage and paint work including the award winning ‘self portrait with badges’ which features Peter wearing one a Fred Perry’s tipped polo shirts. Today he is regarded as the artist of choice by the British music industry, producing some of the most iconic cover-artwork of the last fifty years, most notably for The Beatles’ legendary “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” as well as Oasis “Stop The Clocks” and Paul Weller’s “Stanley Road”.

In recognition of this British icon, Fred Perry Blank Canvas have teamed up with Sir Peter Blake to produce a series of polos, made and printed in England, in a numbered run of 1000. The three styles feature Union Jack and rainbow patches, alongside screen-printed images such as stars, hearts and targets, referencing the artist’s affiliation with 60s pop iconography. Additional details include bold stencilled hems as well as Peter’s signature on the bottom hem and back neck labels, with each shirt coming packaged in an individual presentation box.

This is one of the finest Blank Canvas collections in years, and is a fitting tribute to one of our most celebrated modern artists. Head over to the Fred Perry Laurel Wreath section now, for a proper look at this highly limited collection.

Fred Perry Re-Issues

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

The highly limited Blank Canvas Re-Issues series consists of four polos that represent key points in the history of this most famous style. From the 1957 model through to the football culture-inspired cut of the late 70s, this premium capsule collection recognises the impact Fred Perry has had on some of the most important Youth movements of the 20th Century, and the effect that these movements have had in turn on the design of the famous Fred Perry polo.

Starting with the 1957 silhouette, running through to 1979, each polo tells a very different story, with detailing and variations that are unique to the wearers of the time. The Northern Soul inspired 1963 shirt features woven patches from the famous Wigan Casino and Twisted Wheel clubs where the movement began. The 1979 polo draws influence from the Perry Boys of Manchester and Salford, who’s unique style bucked the trends of the time, with the Fred Perry polo forming an integral part of the look.

The story behind the 1957 polo is the one that perhaps best explains the success of this iconic shirt, where Lilywhite’s customers lobbied the store in vast numbers to get the shirt made in West Ham United’s famous Claret and Blue. After much pressure Lilywhite’s went to Fred Perry to ask if this would be possible, and they of course obliged. The rest, as they say, is history…

Fred Perry x Stussy

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

Fred Perry have once again teamed up with legendary streetwear label Stussy to create a ‘collaboration collection’ which truly defines the term. The historical link between the two brands goes back decades. The Fred Perry shirt was an important part of the US West Coast punk/ska scene’s uniform in the later 1970′s – a community which influenced Shawn Stussy’s young label in the early 80′s.

The collection truly fuses the two brands’ ethos and style, with pique tees, laurel wreath branded jersey tees, and athletic printed classic Fred Perry polos. The numbers ’52′ and ’80′ run through the collection, representing the years that the two brands were created.

This is true collaboration, and one of the best we have seen in some time. Head to the Fred Perry and Stussy sections before its too late…

Liberty is, of course, a British institution, with their art fabrics being used by everyone from Dior to Gucci, so they were an obvious choice to provide the fabrics. Smyth & Gibson of Belfast have been hand making luxury shirts for more than two decades, and were chosen to produce a range of stunning shirts from the Liberty fabrics. The End product is three beautifully construction shirts, each with meticulous attention to detail. The styles echo both Liberty’s and Fred Perry’s heritage, using both oxford cloth and Liberty Art Fabrics to great effect.

Fred Perry have also worked with Guernsey Woollens to produce a Limited edition traditional Guernsey Sweater. Guernsey Woollens has a rich 400 year old heritage, producing high quality knits for the seafarers of the Channel Islands. The sweaters are made from tightly knitted Pure British Wool from the Channel Islands, lightly oiled giving it water resistant properties, and has a distinctive wide collar, straight shoulder seem & sleeve detail.

The First styles from the British Collectables range are online now, with more to follow over the coming weeks…

Raf Simons x Fred Perry Spring 2010 – Coming Soon

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Now well established in it’s own right, the Raf Simons x Fred Perry range is one of the most popular collaborations around, and not without good reason. For each collection RAF takes famous Fred Perry silhouettes, and re-works them to a theme or concept, adding his own twist to these classic styles.

SS10 is no different, and this season sees swathes of bright, sometimes neon colours running throughout. Of course each piece is a slim, contemporary cut, and carries the original 20-leaf laurel on the chest. But where in the past the palettes used have been a little more reserved, this collection celebrates these iconic styles in bold, bright block colours and accents. This limited edition capsule collection is a refreshing change and one that is sure to be a huge success.

The Spring range will launch at End over the next couple of weeks.
