Grenson x Barbour Collaboration Preview

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Two of English fashion’s true stalwarts join forces this Autumn to create a limited edition footwear collection that is perfectly suited to the British weather. Grenson and Barbour have drawn on one another’s expertise to rework a number of classic brogues and derby boots in truly expert fashion. In the words of Barbour MD Steve Buck;

“The footwear we have developed together is of the highest quality, incorporating elements of our signature style into
       beautifully crafted boots and brogues.”

The collection features four brand new styles, the Acklam, Egton, Cayton and Markse – fellow North Easterners will recognise these as the names of nearby villages – each pair is made using the finest materials from both brand’s repertoires including waxed cotton and full grain calf leather. Seemingly designed with North East weather in mind, each shoe sits atop either Dainite or Commando soles, ruggedly constructed for maximum traction and durability.

The Grenson x Barbour collection is set to launch very soon, if you would like any information in the meantime, or to reserve your pair, drop us an email on info@endclothing.co.uk or call our customer service team on +44 (0)191 231 3983.

Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida AW11

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

Since being introduced in 2009 the Barbour Beacon Heritage collection has gone from strength to strength, expanding and improving as each season goes by. The Tokihito Yoshida designed range takes classic Barbour silhouettes and adds a truly modern edge with forward-thinking ergonomically considered designs and novel use of time-honoured Barbour fabrics such as quilted Polymide and the world famous Sylkoil Waxed cotton.

Autumn/Winter 2011 continues the expansion of the ‘ToKiTo’ Beacon Heritage collection, adding a number of knitwear pieces to the range. These new styles, including the Bastle and Paxman, draw influence from Barbour’s robust outdoor knits, but add modern functionality to offer new levels of comfort and durability.

Of course outerwear forms the most integral part of the collection, with the inclusion of classic Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida styles such as the Military and Field Jackets alongside some quality new designs such as the Spey Fishing Jacket and Shoreman Jacket , both of which are based on hunting and fishing jackets from Barbour’s archives. Add to this a number of brilliantly reworked quilted jackets and Barbour can safely say that this year’s Beacon Heritage range is a match not only for previous collections, but also for almost anything else out there at the moment.

We’ve picked out a few highlights below, but you’re best off heading over to the Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida Section now for a proper look…

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Now into it’s fourth season, Barbour’s highly sought after Beacon Heritage Collection continues to go from strength to strength. The collaborative series sees South Shield’s own outdoorwear experts working with Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida to create a range of jackets that takes all the classic Barbour elements and adds some ingenious touches, resulting in some of the best designs about.

SS11 sees the introduction of new fabrics and processes to the range, Barbour’s own Duralinen cotton is a great addition for a Spring/Summer range, while pressure bonded seams are added to a number of styles to give even better protection against the elements. The hugely popular International silhouette is also introduced into the Beacon Heritage Collection, with great results, the Trials jacket being given some subtle, yet highly effective twists.

All-in-all we’d say that SS11 is the best Barbour ‘ToKiTo’ collection to date, truly representative of what this great collaboration can achieve by combining Barbour’s time-honoured design with Tokihito Yoshida’s modern eye for detail. Barbour By Tokihito Yoshida

Friday, September 17th, 2010

The partnership between legendary British brand Barbour and Japanese outerwear specialist Tokihito Yoshida continues into its thrid season, with a fully updated and considerably expanded collection. The range expertly fuses the heritage of Barbour design with Tokihito’s forward-thinking functionality.

Barbour’s famous quilted jackets feature in the Beacon Heritage collection for the first time, taking heritage country designs and incorporating modern design and ergonomic principles. These quilted jackets are based on iconic models such as the Liddesdale, and retain classic Barbour elements such as cord patches and collars, Barbour Tartan lining, and of course the Sylkoil waxed cotton outer. These are merged with features such vertical quilting and articulated elbows and shoulders, making the most of Tokihito’s eye for functional design.

The Horse Riding and Driving jackets perfectly showcase Barbour’s rich history and expertise in working with a heavier weight waxed cotton. The jackets feature numerous anatomical erganomic design elements worked in by Tokihito, and are finished with the addition with plush leather and tartan.

The ragne is available now in our Hunting Co. store and online. Some of our favourite styles are featured below, and head to the Barbour by Tokihito Yoshida section to view the full range.

The Driving, Horse-Riding and Bicycle Jackets are once again key pieces, but they are joined by new designs, based on Barbour’s expertise in outdoor-wear design and Yoshida’s meticulous eye for detail.

Representing Barbour’s own mainline range, this season’s Tokihito Yoshida collection also includes jackets with a military-design theme. The Field and Military Jackets are made from the famous 6oz Sylkoil waxed cotton, featuring over-layed, articulated sections, with hidden pockets and an ergonomically shaped silhouettes. The Field jacket features a detachable inner to allow the wearer maximum scope for movement and wear in all conditions. The Military digs deep into the Barbour design archive, incorporating sections of 8oz cotton at key movement areas into a design based on jackets such as the Cowen, with an ingenious arrangement of pockets and a detachable inner vest to allow the wearer total ‘control’ while wearing the jacket.

The AW10 Beacon Heritage Collection shows a real move on from what has already proved to be one of the most impressive and popular ranges of recent seasons. One not to be missed.
