Beams Plus Spring Collection

Beams launched in Japan in the mid 70’s as a revolutionary multi faceted clothing manufacturer and retail operation. Beams’ retail operation has now grown to over 100 stores, with several varying concepts, serving the ever changing styles of new generations of Japanese consumers. The Beams Plus concept launched around five years ago, and caters for the more discerning gentleman.

The Beams Plus clothing line focuses on faithfully recreating American classics, using only the finest Japanese fabrics and craftsmanship. The results are a collection outstanding in its depth of range, detailing and quality. Beams Plus has always been one of our favourite collections, highly converted by any clothing enthusiast due to its ground breaking quality and incredibly limited distribution (Limited to Japanese retailers only!) So we were extremely honoured when last year we were invited to Beams HQ in Tokyo to view the forthcoming spring range. So after a fantastic trip, a few thousand air miles, and several months wait, we are extremely pleased to present the Spring 2012 Beams Plus collection…

The Beams Plus range is curated by Kenich Kusanoi (Kenny to his friends!), who’s almost worrying passion for American vintage and outdoor pursuits drives the collection’s concept. Given Kenny’s passion, it is not surprising that the range contains many classic Americans silhouettes such as the Mountain Parka, Oxford Shirt, Plaid shirt and Railroad Vest, all reworked and updated by the Japanese masters.

The Spring 2012 collection focuses on the 1960’s and 70’s, adding in new styles such as the PO Shirt, Double Breasted Blazer and Naval Overcoat to the existing range of American classics. As always, each style is more than a basic re-creation, as Beams update the styles with fabrics old and new, such as Cool Max and Linen Herringbone, all brought together by craftsmen in Japan.
Our favourite styles include the camouflage pants, Summer Mountain Parka, Herringbone PO Shirt, and Naval Overcoat, but with a range this good it is difficult to choose favourites. Head to the Beams Plus section to view the full range, and make your own decisions – if you can!
