Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida Beacon Heritage Collection – Spring Summer 2012

This week sees the launch of the Beacon Heritage Spring Summer 2012 range designed by Tokihito Yoshida. Now in its sixth season, the Beacon Heritage ‘ToKiTo’ collection takes the much loved Barbour aesthetic and introduces carefully considered, forward thinking design to the range by way of innovative fabrics and production techniques. Yoshida sympathetically uses classic Barbour materials such as 6oz Sylkoil and Quilted Polyamide, as well as innovative fabrics such as Gore WINDSTOPPER to create modern, ergonomically crafted silhouettes, making the Beacon Heritage collection his own.

Spring Summer 2012 sets the bar high once again, with outerwear creating the main body of the collection. Key pieces from the Autumn Winter range have been developed, none more so than the Spey Fishing Jacket. Constructed from Gore WINDSTOPPER Active Shell – a completely windproof, highly functional and breathable lightweight material – it is jam-packed with pockets, a signature of Yoshida’s unnerving passion for technical outwear that finds the balance between form and function with apparent ease. This can also be seen in the Mount Shirt, a brand new piece in the SS12 collection. Available in three materials; Waxed, Herringbone and WINDSTOPPER; the simplistic, ergonomically sound design makes it one of our favourite pieces from the range.

Tokihito’s pursuit of functional perfection can also be found in the Vintage Cotton Hunting Jacket. A homage to everything technical, this brilliant reworking of the classic hunting jacket is awash with pockets, fastening, D-rings and straps. Available in both Sand and Olive colourways, this is a fantastic, easy to wear piece.

Alongside developments on key pieces like the Sporting Quilt, Motorbike Shirt and knitwear with a nod Barbour’s cycling and fishing heritage, we think the Spring Summer 2012 Beacon Heritage collection is the going to be hard to beat.

We’ve showcased a few highlights below but head over to Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida section for a more detailed look at the collection…

  1. [...] Tokihito Yoshida’s Beacon Heritage Spring/Summer 2012 collection for Barbour has officially launched. The 6th seasonal collaboration between the Japanese designer and the longstanding British brand is based on the Barbour aesthetic, but is then tweaked and customized by Yoshida’s particular eye — a style which includes the implementation of innovative fabrics and production techniques. Materials used in the latest Beacon Heritage collection include Quilted Polyamide, D-rings and 6 oz. Syllkoil. Always one of our favorite brands (enough to land Barbour #5 in our 2011 Year In Style), the new collection makes for a forward-thinking, modern and ergonomically crafted set of work — available at End Clothing.
