Nigel Cabourn AW10

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Over the past few years the already burgeoning reputation of Nigel Cabourn has reached new levels, the success of his Japanese Army Gym store propelled his distinctive outdoor heritage designs to the forefront of fashion across the world. AW10 sees the return of some of Nigel’s most renowned creations – or should we say re-creations – each made with an almost obsessive level of attention to detail.

Every piece of outerwear has a rich back story behind it, the Mallory Jacket is based on the jacket worn by George Mallory when he scaled Everest in 1924, wearing just a 3-piece Harris Tweed suit and a pair of sheepskin boots. Mallory never returned from his expedition, but in 1999 the body of this pioneering, and quintessentially British explorer was found, suspended in the ice, and the jacket was committed to a museum.

The Camerman Jacket is one of the most popular Nigel Cabourn styles, a recreation of the jacket worn by world renowned photographer Wilfrid Noyce, who accompanied most of the Polar pioneers and Everest climbers, chronicling their journeys with his trusty camera. At the heart of the jacket’s make up is true Britishness, the lower portion is made from Harris Tweed, providing the wearer with maximum warmth, while the top half is made from the original Mackintosh fabric, waterproof and windproof. This season sees two new colours of the jacket, far more vibrant and modern than previous efforts, but as good as ever, with Nigel having to ask Harris Tweed and Mackintosh to create brand new colours and designs, just for this range.

The range is completed by the seminal Antarctic, or Everest Parka. The detail and quality of this jacket is absolutely unsurpassed, and the AW10 version is an exact one-to-one recreation of the original, down to the neck label and the colour. The jacket would still withstand and Antarctic expedition, with a Ventile shell and hand-stuffed goose down padding, but is just at home during a British winter, with the natural fabrics reacting to changing conditions.

All in all, this is one of the best collections we have seen in some time, head over to the Nigel Cabourn section to have a closer look.

Mark McNairy for Pro-Keds – Preview

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Mark McNairy’s recently released New Amsterdam – AW10 collection has been causing quite a stir since it launched online earlier this month, and for good reason. Made in Northampton by master shoe-makers Sanders & Sanders, the range incorporates McNairy’s passion for heritage, American styling with a great appreciation for the finest manufacturing techniques.

August sees the release of his long-awaited collaboration with iconic American sports footwear Manufacturer Pro-Keds. The range is, as we would expect, steeped in classic American styling, and reflects the New Amsterdam range, with premium suede uppers and the hugely popular brick red sole running throughout. Each shoe also features the iconic Pro-Keds colour flash across the vulcanised sole, as well as brass eyelets, adding neat detailing to this brilliantly subtle silhouette.

As with previous Mark McNairy collections allocations are tight, and these are sure to be very popular. If you are interested in a pair, email or call our our Customer Services team on +44 191 261 9327 for further information.

Latest from Folk & Video Look Book

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Folk is one of our favourite brands, their ethos is something we really endorse, and their innovative, sympathetic design principles make their clothing instantly recognisable, whilst bucking the trend of being overly branded. Well chosen flashes of colour and novel prints set each Folk collection apart, and AW10 is no different, with shirting, jersey and knitwear, based on heritage silhouettes that utilise Folk’s unique, contemporary take on styling.

As a lot of you may have noticed, the first few pieces of this season’s range have already found their way into the Folk section of our website, and these are a great indication of things to come. Fresh, bold designs that can be worn by anyone, at any time. However, if you want to see even more, this Matthew Donaldson directed video Lookbook shows some of the key designs and patterns for the rest of the season, which are due to arrive over the next 6-8 weeks. If there are any styles that catch your eye, give our Customer Services team a call on +44 (0)191 261 9327 or drop them an email to register your interest.

Veja Autumn 2010

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Parisian brand Veja is no ordinary footwear company. They are not simply concerned with style, celebs, blogs and hype – their vision is very different. Veja strive to produce a range of great looking footwear which is both ecologically sound and fair to all involved in production. They use organic cotton from the Northwest of Brasil, wild Amazonian rubber and eclogically sound leathers, in addition to respecting the workers rights and dignity.

The Tauá is perhaps Veja’s most iconic style, with clean lines and the brand’s trademark V on the side of each shoe. The Tauá is produced in Brasil, of course using fair trade and ecologically sound materials. There is a short video below, which shows exactly how each Tauá is produced by hand in the factory in Brasil.

We have 10 new colourways in the Tauá, available online now.

Nigel Cabourn Luggage – Back in Stock

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

As I am sure you will know, Nigel Cabourn doesn’t do things by halves. Natural Beeswax on his outerwear, production by Mackintosh in the United Kingdom ONLY, and his luggage is on exception. The Army Satchel and Edgar Holdall are two of THE FINEST bags we have ever seen, and are made from 100% genuine deadstock Indian khaki drill, woven circa 1942. First time round these bags sold out in hours, and after a fair bit of arm twisting we convinced Nigel to use the rest of his deadstock stash to produce some more bags especially for us.

The Army Satchel is great for daily use, and the Edgar perfect for a weekend expedition. Produced in the UK using the finest bridal leather and deadstock Indian khaki drill, these are very special bags indeed.

Nigel has no more deadstock fabric left now I’m afraid, so last chance…..

Kitsuné Autumn Winter 2010

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Parisian label Kitsuné is now five years old, and in our opinion has just delivered their best collection yet. The brand has strong links with the musical scene through its record label, which helps their clothing line stay ahead in the style stakes. In addition to style, special care is given to the quality of the fabric and the tailoring of the garments. The brand strategically sources factories that still embrace artisan methods for a durable and timeless product. Combining the philosophy of tradition with a modern attitude and shapes for clothing that lasts.

The latest collection stays true to the brands Parisian roots, with a traditional red, blue and white colour palette. The shapes are classic, with the Kitsuné polo and oxford shirt making a welcome return. Tees have been a notable edition to the range, with a vibrant selection perfect for the warmer weather.

Part one of the Autumn / Winter collection is available online now. Keep an eye out of the second drop, which includes a very special Quoddy collaboration.

Stussy x Timberland 30th Anniversary Boot – A Closer Look

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

To celebrate 3 decades of “hittin’ switches” Stüssy have teamed up with veteran boot makers Timberland. Together they’ve produced a fine take on the ever-popular desert boot style while still keeping it quintessentially Stüssy and Timberland in appearance.

StussyTimbsMain

The designers have opted to use the current sole unit of choice that is Vibram and why not, it is after all one of the finest platforms to sit a shoe on and one that Timberland themselves pioneered. With an upper constructed of premium suede, heavy duty metal eyelets and a padded leather collar the Chukka is topped off with dual branding and an embossed 30th anniversary Stüssy logo.
The main Stüssy influence on the Chukka is the injection of contrasting colour on the laces and top eyelet. If that however is too much for the purist in you a tonal set of laces accompanies the shoe.

Set for release later this month, so don’t delay, as with all Stüssy anniversary collections numbers are stupidly limited. For further information or pictures please give us a call on +44 191 261 9327 or email us at info@endclothing.co.uk.

Adidas Consortium – AdiCup Final Pack

Friday, July 9th, 2010

This weekend sees the end of the 2010 World Cup, with the Final on Sunday in Johannesburg being contested by Spain and Holland. The game will be watched by billions across the globe, and amongst the 88,460 people lucky enough to have a seat in the Soccer City stadium will be the guys from Andreas Muehe, the eventual winners of the inaugural AdiCup.

AdiCupHeader

To celebrate the AdiCup final, and the success of the first World Cup on African Soil, Adidas have teamed up with Nelson Mandela’s 46664 charity to release and extra-limited pack containing the now obligatory Votary, Team Jersey and Kit Bag as well as the Adidas Tango ball used in the tournament. As well as showcasing Adidas Consortium’s expertise in reworking Adi classics, this pack also highlights the 46664 Charity and the great work that they do raising awareness of the HIV problems in South Africa.

HERZO

As with the previous packs, each piece carries unique detailing, in this case, it is simply the 46664 and Adidas logos that adorn the range, with each coming in a simple black and white colourway, reflecting classic Adidas styles as well as the 46664 logo. The Votary comes in the same colours as the World Cup boot that it is based on, while the short-sleeved jersey echoes Adidas kits from the Herzogenaurach archive.

HERZO2

Despite the World Cup preparing to wind down, interest for the 46664 Pack is as high as ever, and with even smaller numbers than previous releases we would suggest being quick when the shoes launch at 10am BST on Saturday 10th July online and instore. Below is a video of the AdiCup final, just to keep the football mood going in anticipation for the AdiCup Final Pack launch, and the World Cup Final itself…
