Norse Projects Spring / Summer 2010

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Last year saw the debut collection from Danish shop/label/all round good bunch Norse Projects. Trying to avoid clichés about Scandinavian minimalism and clothing made to conquer the elements, AW09 was made of some great knits, tees and shirts and included some inspired collaborations, including a series of photo tees with Peter Beste.

SS10 see these common threads continue, again Norse have provided us with some excellent tees and shirting, the styling is considered and classical, and the fabrics and finish are as good as any. The hugely successful Borderline knit makes a return, the soft touch wool knit is as good as ever, and the stripe pattern works brilliantly in light grey and off white.

What has developed is the collaboration pieces, SS10 features a series of printed tees featuring the work of  The Emperor of Antarctica and British graphic artist Adrian Johnson, these follow on from the Peter Beste series and show Norse looking to showcase lesser know artists in their collections.

Another gem that Norse Projects have uncovered for us this season are rainwear experts Elka. Scandinavian in name and nature, their Rain Jackets are bold and simply styled with the emphasis on functionality, a definite choice for combating April showers in our opinion!

Norse Proejcts in online and in the Hunting Co. store now, with more styles to follow over the next month…

Adidas Consortium Runner Pack

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The first drop of Adidas Consortium for 2010 sees the introduction of two series. The first is brand new for SS10 and is based on classic running silhouettes in the colourways that made other Adidas styles so famous. Part one of the Runners pack features an outdoors inspired Torsion Special, with some of the best finishing we have seen in ages, and a hotly anticipated ZX8000, reworked in the OG EQT B-Ball colourway of white, grey and green. Both – as you would expect from Consortium – use the best materials and are packed with neat detail.

The second pack is a continuation from AW09, with the Rod Laver once again reworked by Consortium partners. Representing the US, Undefeated have another go at redesigning the shoe, once again to great effect. Bold and simple the shoe is finished in soft blue suede with leather trim and subtle embossed branding, letting the shoe speak for itself.

The three styles launch on Friday 22nd January…

Nigel Cabourn Spring 2010 – Part I

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The Nigel Cabourn SS10 collection is inspired by his Father’s handbook, a diary he kept with him at all times during his time in India and Burma during World War II. The handbook contains a great many photographs – taken on a Box Brownie – of Nigel’s father and the people he served with and met, and these are the catalyst for the collection.

There are silhouettes that are mainly based on designs from the time, courier satchels and holdalls made from authentic India Khaki Drill cotton, actual deadstock from the 1940s, the bags themselves are hand-sewn in small Cumbrian factories. As we’d expect the jackets are second to none, the Rangoon is based on the Cameraman jacket, in lightweight canvas and beeswaxed cotton, with a hood based on British Military smocks, ideal for summer and already proving very popular.

This range yet again shows the considered expertise of Nigel Cabourn’s design, inspired by his childhood memories and his expansive archive, SS10 manages to be both true to the original and progressive while ensuring the production values are of the highest order.

Part I of the Spring 2010 collection is available online and at the Hunting Co. store now…

New Balance x SNS RGB Pack

Friday, January 8th, 2010

To celebrate 10 years in the business, Swedish trainer-masters Sneakers’n’Stuff have teamed up with New Balance to give us their vision of three of the most famous ’Made in England’ styles. The pack is based on RGB colours and each shoe is a vibrant reworking of a Flimby favourite. As we have seen from a number of previous SNS projects, Erik and Peter are masters of materials, and the RGB pack is no exception, the shoes vary in their fabrics from a premium pig skin and suede design through to an all vegan number. The range also focuses on the heritage of New Balance, the 3 shoes come from different eras of British productions, from classic vintage styles to modern future-classics.

sns1

The first shoe, Red, is a 577, which comes in all – erm red – colour way, made from perforated pigskin and premium suede, letting the great lines of the shoe do the talking. The red uppers are broken up with a flash of 3M as a reminder of NBs rich running history, and the overall look of the shoe is considered and high quality.

sns3

Green is based on the 1500, a more modern runner, but still a classic. The two-tone colour way is  green and grey, and the construction is a combination of top-quality suede and mesh. Again, the overall look is understated, with a very authentic feel, but with that little bit of Scandinavian flair to set it apart.

sns2

Finally, Blue, is a very modern affair. Taking the very forward-thinking 1700, the palette ranges from subtle to vibrant and the uppers are completely vegan, made from a combination of faux nubuck and ripstop fabrics.

We love the variety and attention to detail of this SNS x New Balance collection and feel that it genuinely does justice to both collaborators. The RGB pack will be in store very soon, and we’re definitely looking forward to it.

If you would like to pre-order and of the above styles please call us on +44(0)191 261 9237 to secure your pair.

SNS Herning 2010 Spring Collection

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Probably one of our favorite new additions to the end fold last season was was Denmark’s SNS Herning. No nonsense knits made to the highest standard, in order to survive the worst Scandinavian conditions, that most importantly look great on. So we were very pleased to see S.N.S. Herning’s SS10 collection had arrived when we got back from Christmas, and as we unpacked it we couldn’t help but to be impressed by their take on functional knits for warmer months.

snsnews

The range features the ‘Under range’, full and half button cardigans that are made to be worn traditionally under jackets and thicker knits, but could quite easily be worn by themselves. The Stem, Lag and Tag knits, are lighter weight versions of the bubble knits that made SNS famous. Their unusual textures set them apart from normal knitwear brands, and the Stem cardigan and jacket also feature the imperfections that come from the original looms.

A great collection of knits, essential in any man’s wardrobe. Head to the SNS Herning section to view the full Spring collection.

Adidas x STAR WARS Collection – Part I

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

What can we say about this latest Adidas collaboration? In terms of collectiblity you can’t really get much better than Star Wars x Adidas, and with this kind of attention to detail, we can happily say that Herzogenaurach’s finest have done this great film franchise justice.

starwars1

Here we have some of the first detail shots of this great range, including the amazing packaging, based on the packets the hugely sought after toys came in during the 70s and 80s. The January drop consists of the Stormtrooper Superskate (£69), with clean lines and contrast black detail, the Famous Scenes Micropacer (£135), featuring embossed iridescent panels and the ZX8000 Vader (£99), based on Vader’s suit, including padding and circuit detail.

We’ll let the pictures do the talking, needless to say, demand is already growing fast and we anticipate that by the release on 16th January it will have reached fever pitch!
