Sperry Original Deck Shoes

Friday, February 27th, 2009

We’re more used to dogs ruining a good pair of shoes as opposed to them inventing them, however, American footwear icons Sperry owe their legacy to a Spaniel named Prince. Amazed by his canine companion’s grip on the icy ground, boating enthusiast Paul Sperry had a brain wave – he went home, and using an old training shoe, some rubber and a razor blade he created what is now recognised as the first purpose made boat shoe. 75 years on and the production process has advanced to machine-cut soles, but the uppers are still hand stitched, giving a feel of unparalleled quality to the shoe.

For us land-lovers at End Towers the need for grip while out at sea is minimal, however we do know a great shoe when we see one. We can genuinely say that very few new lines have caused such a buzz as that of the Topsider and its arrival in store. We have the Sperry Deck Shoes in Navy, Brown, Ice and Amaretto. We hope our enthusiasm is shared with our End customers, and Sperry’s arrival will be a successful one!

WoodWood Spring 2009 – Online Now

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

The Spring collection from our favourite Dane’s arrived in store yesterday, and as expected it did not disappoint. There is some great knitwear, in the form of a Wood Wood Cardigan, and a Wood Wood Knitted Crew, with contrast stripes and brilliantly nautical detailing such as shoulder button fastening. The season’s tees are based around the idea of romantik/mechanik and this is represented in a varied and typically clever way.

There are broken heart symbols running through some of the pieces, and references to great Danish scientists and thinkers, as well as diagram drawings on many of the shirts and at least one nod to the much loved bicycle. All the prints are amazing quality, and each one has a Wood Wood logo label sewn on at the hem. Store favourites include the Egg Head Tee, the Greenhouse Tee, and the 3 Amigos Tee.

Whether you’re a romantic, a mechanic or just into good t-shirt design there is something for everyone in this collection..

Surface To Air

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Relative newcomers to the End Clothing fold, Parisian design collective Surface to Air have already managed to make quite an impression. They follow up their massively successful and completely sold out first season here with more of the same – great designs, clever cuts and fantastic prints – as well as some more classically inspired pieces.

Last season, the Kauboi and Classic shirt had barely hit the rails before they had sold out. This time we see these two amazing shirts return in a green and wine tartan and an over-dyed grey contrast check, respectively. The attention to detail once again is unsurpassed and these won’t be around for long.

In keeping with their keen eye for detail, S2A have given us their own working of the classic trench coat. Waxed cotton, double breasted and belted, this is real premium piece and would look great in any wardrobe.

Add to this 4 fantastic tees and a Japanese fleece sweater, each in premium cotton with quality prints and the typical brilliantly quirky Surface to Air touch, and we have another great collection!

Passarella Death Squad x End

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Having worked with Danny and Emilie at Passarella Death Squad for some time now, and being big fans of their work, we thought it would be good if we could manage to work together on some kind of collaborative project. Here at End Towers we worked night and day and came up with some great ideas and input for the design and together with the guys at Passarella we have come up with a cracking design for our own exclusive limited edition tee.

Still keeping to the classic slim fitting tees in black and white, the design incorporates the French slogans and erotic imagery that is synonymous with Passarella Death Squad. We decided there was very little that was as iconic, or represented us as Novocastrians as well as Brown Ale. So Danny and Co went to work creating a one off design incorporating the famous beer bottle with their distinctive art.

The result, we’re sure you will agree, is in keeping with the Passarella Death Squad ideal and is a great representation of this collaboration between them and End. We are extremely proud of how this project has turned out and hope it is not that last venture of its kind.

Availability for this great shirt is highly limited and the tee goes on sale at 10am on Monday 2nd March in store and online. These are not to be missed out on, and we are sure with the interest they have already generated they won’t be around for long..

Raf Simons for Fred Perry

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

SS09 sees the second season of collaboration between Fred Perry and Belgian uber-designer Raf Simons. The collection keeps going from strength to strength, taking Fred Perry’s staple pieces and giving them a ‘Raf’ twist.

As huge fans of Fred Perry, we can really appreciate the way Raf Simons respects the great heritage of the brand. Recalling the original 30 leaf laurel on the chest, and keeping the trim to a slim minimum. We see this eye for minimal perfection in the darted single colour polos from this collection. These pieces perfectly echo the polo shirts of the past…

Puma Breakpoint Pack Pre-Order

Friday, February 20th, 2009

On their latest List collection, Puma have drawn inspiration from the world of tennis for a pack that gives us revamped versions of 2 of their classic basketball shoes.

The ‘break point’ in tennis, where a player wins a game against service, is the impetus for the range. The idea of the underdog, succeeding against the odds is key, with the 70s sneakers making a comeback, after being eclipsed by other styles from so-called bigger brands…

Nom De Guerre Spring 2009

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Here at End we are lucky enough to be one of the few UK stores chosen to sell New York fashion label Nom de Guerre. Each collection is always eagerly anticipated, and there is always great demand for NDG’s military inspired simplicity.

The first part of our SS09 delivery arrived yesterday morning, and is complete with the kind of high-end, military infused design that we have come to expect. Although summer, and even Spring, seems an eternity away, the Nom SS09 collection has short sleeve and roll sleeve shirting in light grey and blue, perfect for warm days and nights. That said, in keeping with the theme of utility, and bearing in mind they are based in New York, this collection has some amazing pieces of Knitwear and Outerwear.

Proving there is still life in the humble cardigan, this season sees a nautical inspired Silk Mix Cardigan with gradient navy and white stripes and the ‘battleship’ cardigan, a tonal texture knit affair which looks great. Outerwear for SS09 comes in the form of the anti exposure range, the Parka is a bomber length, hooded jacket, with endless pockets, button zip covering and a great slim cut. Once again, Nom de Guerre gives us a fantastic collection, and is one to check out instore and online!

Cortez Brothers

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

It could be said that the Cortez is the foundation on which Nike was built. When the shoe was released in 1972, Bill Bowerman’s company were still working under the Blue Ribbon Sports monicker. aThe Cortez was released on an unsuspecting world in the now classic Navy/White colourway. With suede front, lightweight nylon panels and herringbone sole, the Cortez became a legend in the world of running, and took Nike to the dizzying heights they now occupy.
